Rock and Pop Music: A Way of Life

What do people do when they feel sad, excited, happy, angry or just need to chill out? They are most likely listening to music. In our society today, people listen to many types of music, but among all of them, there are two that have prevailed: rock and pop music. These two genres have been extremely popular since the 1960’s when music started to be mass-produced by the big companies. At that time amazing bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones started to experiment with both genres and the result was one of the best musical decades humankind has ever seen, and since then, nothing has stopped rock and pop popularity. The difference of these two genres is that pop music uses melodies and hooks, while rock music uses more elaborate beats with electric guitars and drums. Other difference between both genres is that rock music fans are loyal to the same bands throughout time, and pop music fans tend to change their favorite artist from time to time. Sadly, one thing they have in common, there seems to be a decline on the quality it is being produced by the new rock and pop bands, their music albums are not selling as the old ones used to, and it seems like things are not going to change in the short term. I hope rock and pop music reach the popularity they used to have and that we see a new Beatles on the scene, so we can make a way of life from both genres once again.
